## Summary

Russia's Luna 25, its first lunar mission in 47 years, crashed into the moon after communication with the robotic spacecraft was interrupted. Roscosmos said it lost contact with Luna 25 on Saturday around 2:57 p.m. Moscow time, and a day earlier the spacecraft had reported an "emergency situation" while trying to enter a pre-landing orbit. Roscosmos said a preliminary analysis indicated the probe "switched to an off-design orbit" before the collision, and a commission will investigate the cause.
