## Summary

Dropbox is ending unlimited storage for new customers and switching its Advanced plan to a metered model, which it attributes to users pooling or reselling unlimited storage, including for Chia cryptocurrency mining. Dropbox said it has seen a surge of such behavior after other services made similar changes, and that these customers frequently consume thousands of times more storage than its genuine business customers. Dropbox Advanced now supports 15 TB shared equally among three licenses, and existing subscribers can keep their current usage below 35 TB for the next five years. Gizmodo noted that Google has also moved to limit storage that was once unlimited.
