## Summary

The article presents God as a cosmic con artist who offers redemption while setting up damnation, and it frames the faithful as an audience that applauds the figure responsible for their troubles. It describes God as preaching forgiveness while scripting the eternal fire, and as placing the weight of the world's woes on people's shoulders before vanishing behind "the curtain of omnipotence." The piece uses circus and magic imagery throughout, ending with the claim that "the house always wins" and that believers are left "in the camaraderie of the bamboozled."
