# Kiwi Karma is better than Rainbow Points or Warps Source: https://open.substack.com/pub/bootstrappingkiwi/p/kiwi-karma-is-better-than-rainbow?r=3ptcv Kiwi News: https://news.kiwistand.com/stories/Kiwi-Karma-is-better-than-Rainbow-Points-or-Warps?index=0x657a07de7bab3b652bf973d7cdc7a2e702a35d2afc2827676bb90d94e0d8d83c342712fb Submitted by tim on 2023-12-13 UTC, 8 upvotes, 0 comments ## Summary Kiwi Karma is argued to be more valuable than Warpcast Warps or Rainbow Points because it is computed from signed messages on a peer-to-peer network that anyone can verify. The writer says Kiwi News is built on a peer-to-peer protocol using set reconciliation, where a new link submission gives 1 Karma and each upvote gives 1 Karma. Each user's score is a view over these upvotes and links, so any node operator can reproduce the same score. The writer contrasts this with Warps and Points, which are integers in an SQL database. ## Article Rainbow shipped a new update yesterday, “airdropping” points to their users. Reactions were mixed but funny. In an earlier post, I already discussed how Warpcast’s Warps bridge the web2-web3 gap. Today, I want to highlight why collecting Kiwi Karma makes MUCH more sense than amassing Warpcast Warps or Rainbow Points. If you go to news.kiwistand.com/community you can browse everyone’s karma score. It essentially works the same way as Reddit or Hacker News. The argument is short and elegant: Kiwi Karma is the sum of messages stored on a peer-to-peer network. Warps and 🌈Points are integers in an SQL database. 🦊🔫 “They're called points, T. It's a bunch of kids running numbers out of Brooklyn.” Now, why is Kiwi Karma objectively more valuable and straight-up better than Wraps 🌯 and Points? That is because Kiwi News, like Farcaster, is built on a peer-to-peer protocol using set reconciliation. This type of network enables anyone to run a node and copy all the messages. On Farcaster, these messages are casts, likes, etc. On Kiwi News, these messages are newly submitted links and upvotes. But now, here’s the crux! Each user's Kiwi Karma is computed as a view on top of the upvotes and links, which means that anyone who runs a Kiwi News Protocol node can actually do this simple math to arrive at the exact same Karma score as when I run this calculation on my node. It’s extremely simple: A new link submission gives 1 Karma. An upvote gives 1 Karma. That’s it! Now, I stand by what I said. Kiwi Karma is WAY better than Warps or Points. That is because all Kiwi News Protocol messages are actually EIP-712 signed messages, similar to EAS. It’s vastly different than some kids running numbers out of Brooklyn. It is because, technically, someone could just create a contract on Optimism, set Kiwi News’s message root hash as the authority for what messages have really been posted and upvoted, and then users could redeem their Kiwi Karma for ERC20 tokens. And the best thing? You don’t need to ask me for permission. I don’t run the numbers on an SQL database out of Brooklyn because I’m scared of Gary Gensler. And that’s why Kiwi Karma is super good 🥝 If you liked this extremely brand-safe way of writing about my startup, make sure to subscribe below to never miss when I make another such amazing post.
