Each piece's transformation steps, shaping function, looping sequence, and palette are determined by the hash generated at minting, and each token starts from the same point on refresh. Collectors can adjust rotation, color mode, animation speed, frame rate, aspect ratio, and loop segment, and can toggle a "traffic mode" that visualizes Ethereum network activity. Brito combines visual qualities from his earlier projects, Quadrature and Laterals, to deconstruct the idea of the perfect loop. ## Article Metamorphosis I (M1) is a series of 110 works, each uniquely generated within an ever-evolving landscape of blocks that endlessly transforms, mutates, and morphs elements over time. Offering a unique take on the perfectly animated loop, M1 brings different kinds of mutations to each sequence so that as it repeats, it perpetually changes. The total number of transformation steps, shaping function, looping sequence, and palette for each piece are based on the hash generated when minting. Each token will always begin at the same point when refreshed in a web browser. But from there, the possible transformations are virtually infinite. There are three main components for transformation: a shaping function, a looping sequence, and a mutating sequence. Collectors can play with different aspects of the piece to reveal different kinds of shifts: rotating the frame, shifting the color mode (solid, textured, or gradient), or alternatively, opting for a constantly morphing color mode. You can also shift the animation’s speed, frame rate and aspect ratio, or select a particular segment of the animation to loop between. You can even toggle the “traffic mode” to visualize data based on activity on the Ethereum network. Because collectors are able to invoke changes to different parameters, no two M1 artworks will ever be the same. The options are endless. Merging different visual qualities from his previous projects, Quadrature, and Laterals, with Metamorphosis I, Brito deconstructs the concept of the perfect loop, emphasizing each a-linear transformation over static, final states.
