# OpenRank: Decentralized Reputation Protocol Source: https://openrank.com ## Summary OpenRank describes itself as a verifiable ranking and reputation infrastructure that uses social graph algorithms such as EigenTrust to reduce spam and Sybils without centralized gatekeeping or censorship. The project says its composable onchain social graphs can deliver relevant, contextual recommendations to users and communities. Its roadmap states that it will first launch reputation systems with design partners, then launch an open, permissionless and verifiable protocol. ## Article Reduce spam & Sybils Using verifiable algorithms and compute, you can identify and reduce spam and sybils without centralized gate-keeping or censorship. Maybe i am missing something but dont see the need until these social networks become much much bigger last cycle there were a number of credit scoring companies that tried to a score based on onchain activity to enable among others uncollaterised lending but none worked out... no demand! **macbudkowski.eth**: I agree that at this point it's not that useful when you are an active user of these platforms. But e.g., I'm not that active on Lens. So if I see a new Kiwi user, who has a Lens profile, I'd like to know more about them. For example, it'd be great to see their score to determine if they are an airdrop farmer/spammer, or a legit user. So when they post something in the comments that's not in line with our guidelines, I would know that e.g., they're a legit user and they might have just misunderstood the app's idea :)
