After attending the Ethereum Foundation meetup in Bangkok, Mac reports speaking with about 15 people working on consensus, issuance, archive nodes, compilers, and staking, whom Mac describes as highly technical and aligned with the Ethereum vision. Mac writes that this work matters for reaching NATO-level security and securing trillions of dollars of value, and that critics on Twitter tend to have time horizons of days or weeks rather than years or decades. ## Article Two things can be true: 1) EF should be optimized, 2) EF should stay credibly neutral and work on important things that CT don't even think about. Re: 2), I went to the @ethereumfndn meetup in Bangkok. Spoke with about 15 people who were working on consensus, issuance, archive nodes, compilers, staking and so on. I might have been lucky but all people I spoke with were highly technical, supersmart and felt very aligned with the Ethereum vision. I am not a distributed networks expert but it seemed to me that if we want Ethereum to reach NATO-level security, the work done by these people is important. And yes, it doesn't matter when you want to buy a memecoin, but it matters if we want to secure trillions of dollars of value, and this is the end goal. So if we do 1), please remember about 2) because most people on Twitter have a time horizon counted in days or weeks, not years and decades. And sure, having ‘plans measured in centuries’ shouldn’t be an excuse for inefficient execution, so all quality feedback should be considered, and looking at this Vitalik's post, it seems like this is happening.
