# @Cbb0fe: 6 years of full-time crypto investing had multiple 6-month dry spells Source: https://x.com/cbb0fe/status/2069445347957428397?s=12 ## Summary Over six years as full-time crypto investors, the author's group had several periods of six or more months in which they made very little money and gave back many of their gains. The author says these dry spells were not much discussed on crypto Twitter, where people mostly appear to be winning, and that during them the group failed at almost everything it tried, missed many opportunities, and could not identify the next big trend. The author also says enduring these periods requires being somewhat obsessed and continuing to believe when nothing is working, and that most people eventually quit while those who stay usually get another chance. ## Article One thing that shocked me while doing an audit for Swiss bank applications: Over the last 6 years as full-time investors, there were several 6+ month periods where we made only fucking peanuts and round-tripped a lot of profits. Periods where almost everything we were doing failed. Where we missed countless insane opportunities. We couldn't identify the next big thing. We were also too lazy to dig deep into new opportunities. It's not talked about much on CT because everyone is always winning there, but there are some really dark periods. Periods where you genuinely wonder whether you're completely washed. Whether you'll ever be able to make serious money again. I think to endure these periods, you need to be somewhat obsessed. You need to keep believing when nothing is working, when everyone else on CT seems to be printing. Most people eventually quit. The ones who stick around long enough usually get another shot.
