BitMEX exchange will shut down its operations effective 23 September 2026 at 04:00:00 UTC, according to a statement to users. The owner and operator, HDR Global Trading Limited, made the decision following a strategic review of the business. The company says user assets remain fully safe and under users' control during the transition, and it strongly encourages users to close positions and withdraw funds as soon as convenient. BitMEX also states it invented the 100x leverage perpetual swap and reports zero customer funds lost to hacks in its operating history.
