@CupOJoseph: decentralization doesn't mean never coordinating to fight back

This is a take on the Gnosis hard fork. Validators have the power to coordinate and fight back when under attack. Someone on the Gnosis Forum was also wondering if there shouldn’t have been a DAO vote, but a DAO vote could never be implemented without consent from the validators. Updating your validator is the vote.
