AI summary of the linked article

Groupcore is defined as the loose, rotating circles of collaboration and work that the internet makes possible, a mode of cooperation that preserves autonomy, distributes authorship, and generates outcomes no one could make alone. The article describes it as fractal, anti-fragile, and structured as a lattice rather than a skyscraper. It uses Metalabel as its example, a team of four that says it has run for four years, with its Metalabel marketplace having seen 30,000+ collectors, 1,000+ creators, and nearly $2 million in transactions over the past three years. The team says it manages its many projects through a heterarchy, limited decisions, and strong norms, and is building the Dark Forest OS software to offer the groupcore stack as one tool.

What all this pump around ‘groupcore’ and then no token!? Haha. It’s funny though that it looks like Yancey is defining a whole new cultural paradigm into existence, but in the end he wants to sell stuff through his Metalabel. Interestingly these ideas were partly born in web3 space and echoes 2021 art space idealisms but pivoted to Stripe. (Ironically Stripe now building its own blockchain.)

While the previously mentioned A-Corp might eventually become something really new, "groupcore" sounds like a rephrasing of old ideas that once found their way into the "management of virtual teams" and similar things.

@Misha: Yancey did actually once work in crypto (in the 2021 era), and it was a bit of a scandal when we pivoted away from it.

I kinda like, honestly, that there are more and more people who are doing their own thing, not crediting crypto. It has become so toxic and you basically get very little back from crypto when you develop your ideas in the space. So I think the Bluesky people and Yancey have been directionally right and successful with their approach.
