Dencum upgrade scheduled for Mar 13 - lower Ethereum fees coming

The Ethereum Dencun upgrade is scheduled to activate on the Ethereum mainnet at epoch 269568, on March 13, 2024 at 13:55 UTC. The upgrade combines changes to both the consensus and execution layers, most notably EIP-4844, also known as "protodanksharding", which introduces ephemeral data blobs and is expected to help reduce L2 transaction fees. Node operators and stakers must update their clients to the listed releases, or their nodes will be stuck on an incompatible chain after the upgrade. The Dencun upgrade follows last year's Shapella upgrade.
