Is this going to mint the OP token on L1? The article doesn‘t mention it, but it would be an obvious upgrade to do on the token IMO.

Actually the OP token is already on L1, as the first OP tokens were initially released on L1. So they exist on both L1 and L2 and you can move them with a bridge. Now they are moving existing OP tokens from L1 to Optimism’s new upgraded L2 network, called Bedrock :)

For speed, efficiency and unification your tokens on L1 are locked and you get an equal amount distributed on L2. And it’s cheaper of course. Coin magic!

I think Optimism Paragraph was hacked. The whole migration is likely a scam. Looking at a cashed version of the post looks like hackers posted a phishing post. Looked up the link for the migration goes to url optimsim (not posting the actual link here). Sorry for curating this to Kiwi but it was on the official Optimism Paragraph, so I too fell for it. Luckily did not try to migrate any tokens 😅 Anyway looks you can’t trust anything anymore.

I can’t find any announcement it was actually hacked, but they just removed the whole Paragraph account of Optimism, also all the old posts, everything just gone. Anyway I examined the cashed post and could see there were malicious links in the post. Post was very convincing though 😅

But in the past Mirror accounts have been compromised. Now they migrated all the Mirror accounts to Paragraph recently. Maybe stuff has gone wrong 🤷🏼‍♀️ I would be vigilant also for other Paragraph accounts, especially migrated ones. But nowhere anything official on this.

man what the hell. I scanned the article too and everything seemed plausible. That said, to me it seemed annoying that they‘d do a token migration, but I thought that they‘d be one of those teams who‘d do it as OP has this weird 0x000…42 address for their token.
