I found the /markets tab surprising because I got psy-oped into thinking that Polymarket works only for politics and after the elections it's doomed to fail. But there's been a $1.5B volume bet on NBA champion, $1.1B bet on Superbowl champion, and almost $1B on Champions League winner. Some of the huge bets are still active, so it looks very promising for Polymarket, because sports betting is a huge market. It's regulated, though, so probably that's why Polymarket is not available in Poland. How do you make polymarket unavailable in a country?! I thought its a number of smart contracts running and if you interact with them or not is your own choice? That's thankfully true. So they just asked ISPs to block Polymarket.com. When I try to open the website I see this big banner saying that they offer illegal gambling and participating in it is a financial crime. But I could still use alternative front-ends or directly call the contracts ofc. How do you make polymarket unavailable in a country?! I thought its a number of smart contracts running and if you interact with them or not is your own choice? I somehow missed that. Sad that the average joe is stuck with their ISP's DNS server (assuming its a dns block!?). What are they even thinking, looks like a politicians marketing gag to "block" that... Yeah, we have pretty strong law against unregistered gambling. You theoretically can't even play poker with your friends for $100 because they think you're laundering money... | |
