Should you buy the Memethology Card Game?

AI summary of the linked article

Memethology is a digital and physical trading card game about internet memes, and the author says it is worth watching despite skepticism about crypto-based TCGs. The author notes that Devfolio reports over $70k in sales across two sold-out drops, about 10,000 digital packs, and more than 300 unique cards. Founder Colton open sourced the game, and the author praises the project as a solo grassroots effort, though the author also states that the rules are not public and that the value of the packs is hard to predict.

Just read this. Man, it took me back to getting a Legends booster pack for my birthday from my brother - and finding a Mirror Universe in it. I still put it in my old school deck whenever we meet up.

Colton is a champ too. I remember him talking about this idea at Devcon Bogota a few years ago.

This made my day, never knew you played Magic!

Mirror Universe is an iconic pull. And unlike many Legends cards still very playable :D.

I'll ping you, we should play Old School at least over webcam and catch-up!

“…digital versions of graded Pokémon cards that are held in custody by someone else.”

The thought of pulling a 1st edition Charizard and not wanting to have the actual card makes my head hurt. I partly enjoy crypto for the self-custody aspects of it but who tf wants to show off a real physical Pokémon card and not “take it with them to school.” I also have never meet anyone in my 33/34 years of life that actually plays Pokémon.

Also if anyone has any Six Samurai cards from YuGiOh, I’ll take ‘em/buy ‘em/trade you for ‘em
