IMO it's going to affect ETH price short-term, though the worst had already happened imo. Back in 2021 I had to buy ETH to purchase NFTs and other coins. I held some extra ETH in my wallet in case I needed it for some good trade. It was good not only because ETH went up, but also because if I had USDC, the trade would be much more expensive and burdensome because of the spiking gas prices. So ETH as unit-of-account played a big role. In 2025 gas prices are close to 0. I have great UX for swapping anything into anything via Defillama Swap or Oku trade, or even my wallet. So I don't need to hold that much ETH. So IMO ETH's unit-of-account role is decreasing, which is one of the multiple factors that play a role in lowering the price. | |
