Apple Positions Itself as "Unspyable" https://techcrunch.com/2026/03/27/apple-… Apple asserts that, since the launch of Lockdown Mode in 2022, no iPhone with this feature enabled has been compromised by high-level spyware, such as that used by governments or specialized firms. This mode blocks most message attachments, disables advanced web technologies that are frequently exploited, prevents automatic connections to unsecured Wi-Fi networks, and deactivates numerous features and services native to Apple itself. Independent researchers from groups such as Citizen Lab and Amnesty International have reviewed real-world cases of espionage involving tools like Pegasus or Predator; in instances where Lockdown Mode was enabled, the attacks were either blocked or theoretically abandoned outright by the attackers. Although it significantly diminishes daily convenience by restricting many functions, it is a mode that genuinely enhances the security of the device itself.
