Passwords are likely going to be the nemesis of the internet. And then people complain about a bit of friction with web3 wallets.

I somehow never understood how we could fly to the moon, but we settled for 4-8 character non-rotating secret keys doing auth for personal finance, online friends and deepest online secrets.

Passkeys don't fix that either. Once stored in a password manager it becomes the single attack vector with a probability of 1.0 that it gets hacked one day.

I am wondering why we were able to standardize containers or do really hard things like kubernetes on a global scale, but we (as humanity) never got around to standardize an endpoint that ca automatically be used with password managers which could auto-rotate password (or passkeys) easily and regularly, used by all famous auth libraries. There aren't so many.

A new hack is discovered? Just rotate all passwords, keys or whatever else is used as auth.

Btw: According to Community Notes this leak is just the biggest collection of all other leaks and not a net new leak
