2025 Stack Overflow Developer Survey

The 2025 Stack Overflow Developer Survey finds AI tool use is now widespread, with 84% of respondents using or planning to use AI tools in their development process, up from 76% last year, and 51% of professional developers using them daily. Positive sentiment toward AI tools fell to 60% this year from over 70% in 2023 and 2024, and 46% of respondents distrust AI tool accuracy compared with 33% who trust it. The most common frustration, cited by 66% of developers, is AI solutions that are "almost right, but not quite." Visual Studio and Visual Studio Code kept the top two IDE spots for a fourth year.
