A (Sober) Reflection on a Decade of Ethereum

Vitalik Buterin's... wait, the article's author is not named in the text, so I must avoid attributing it by name unless the text names them. The text does not name its author. The author's central view is that Ethereum's coordination potential has been realized alongside harms, and that its future depends on people as well as protocols. Supporting specifics: the author co-designed the ERC20 standard and helped popularise token bonding curves, now used in most new token launchpads. The author cites itch.io deindexing NSFW content, including queer content, after pressure from payment processors, and quotes Yuki Clarke on Bluesky saying a SFW comic was deindexed because of its LGBT tag.
