A short history of Uniswap

Hayden Adams, who built Uniswap, recounts the project's origins from 2017 to mid-2018 as a personal history of its first version. He describes learning Ethereum after being laid off in July 2017, then building a proof-of-concept automated market maker in late 2017 at friend Karl Floersch's suggestion. Pascal Van Hecke funded a month of research, and by March 2018 a team including Callil Capuozzo and Uciel Vilchis had built a full demo. After Vitalik Buterin suggested a Vyper rewrite, Adams spent two weeks porting the contracts, and the post credits Dan Robinson with a 30% gas efficiency gain on a flight home from Edcon 2018.
