Algorand’s Python Integration

John Woods, CTO of the Algorand Foundation, announced that a developer preview of native Python support on Algorand will be released on Monday, December 11, as part of the upcoming AlgoKit 2.0 upgrade. Woods said the work took over a year to build and called the release a "watershed moment for Algorand." Previously, Python developers had to use the Pyteal and Beaker libraries, which the article describes as limited in performance and functionality and high in verbosity and complexity. The public release is scheduled for February 2024, and Pyteal and Beaker will be deprecated at a later, unspecified date.
