An MEV Perspective on Glamsterdam

Data Always and Hasu argue that BALs are uncontroversially beneficial for the execution layer, while every consensus-layer option for Glamsterdam has clear tradeoffs. They say enshrined PBS (EIP-7732) could improve MEV auction dynamics but introduces a free option problem that may significantly increase empty blocks on Ethereum. They also say FOCIL (EIP-7805) helps constrain block builders, but its censorship benefits do not extend to the blob-carrying transactions and contentious-state transactions most often excluded today.
