AI summary of the linked articleThe author hypothesizes that user interfaces for predictable, service-driven tasks will shrink or disappear as AI improves at anticipating human input, while interfaces for unpredictable creative tools will persist as collaborative canvases with AI. The article contrasts YouTube's 2005 flow of search, results and opt-in click with TikTok, which auto-plays a video on opening the app, and cites Uber ordering via Siri and grocery reordering via APIs as examples of service apps. For creative tools, it points to Captions, Cursor and Replit, where AI shows its actions within the same interface so users can steer the process.

One of the rationales behind an alt Tinder-like Kiwi client, where you could swipe the content. I wonder how much changing the interface would change the way content is consumed. I imagine people would more often read content that has a good image, description, and interesting hook at the beginning. Probably comments would also matter a lot. I think for news it is headlines that trigger my click behavior. So swiping instead of a list would be tedious and time consuming. What would be great though is that if next to the headline would be a button to blurb out a short AI summary of the article to be able to decide if you should actually go and read.
