Bored Ape NFT event attendees report ‘severe eye burn’

Attendees of ApeFest, a Bored Ape Yacht Club NFT event held in Hong Kong from November 3rd to 5th, reported eye pain, vision problems and sunburnt skin after the event. One attendee posted on X that they were diagnosed with photokeratitis, a condition caused by unprotected ultraviolet exposure, and another blamed UV from the stage lights, leading to speculation about improper lighting. Yuga Labs, the company behind the project, said it is contacting those affected to understand the root cause. It said the 15 people it has been in direct communication with represent less than one percent of the approximately 2,250 attendees and staff at its Saturday night event.
