Building a Memex #1

The author describes building a personal memex, a self-maintained wiki that they plan to partly publish, as a durable home for their knowledge, and argues that people should treat it as their own responsibility. They say they spent years moving work across platforms such as Farcaster, Zora, Substack and Medium, and that content became hard to retrieve as products pivoted or networks fragmented. Their stated plan is to focus on a few platforms, automate the rest on a local model or cloud server, and drop many separate archival and note-taking apps. This is the first post in a series documenting the project.
