Censorable Tornado Cash

Selectively auditable zero-knowledge proofs (SA-ZKPs) could let a regulated version of Tornado Cash balance user privacy with regulatory oversight. Regulators would register with the network to receive audit permissions through a cryptographic trapdoor, and could selectively decrypt transaction data only when suspicious activity arises. The U.S. Treasury sanctioned Tornado Cash in August 2022, citing alleged laundering of over $7 billion since its 2019 launch. Readers are asked whether they would still use such a mixer.
