Citation Needed has a new home

Molly White announced that her Citation Needed newsletter has moved from Substack to its own self-hosted site, citationneeded.news, in January 2024. She left because Substack chose to keep hosting Nazi content, which she said conflicts with her values and the revenue she was sharing with the platform. White says the move is built on the Ghost open source platform, with Stripe handling payments and Mailgun handling email, and that Substack's 10% cut no longer applies. She reports that subscribers were moved over without needing to resubscribe.
