very sad. protecting your children should start bottom up, not top down. educate them about the internet, start in kindergarten, set your boundaries as a parent, talk with them. this law is also a failure of modern parenthood, when parents are looking for the government to do what they fail to do themselves. (btw i’m a parent and my kids are happy online :) it’s like oh hammers are dangerous for children, let’s make only rubber hammers, instead of teaching children how to handle a hammer.

The good faith interpretation is that this is about children. The machiavellian politics interpretation is that protecting the children is the frontend cause to gain more power over a revolting population. You already eliminate a bunch of dissidents on the matter who are not willing to speak out against „protecting the children“
