Free the feed | The danger of algorithms as ammunition

Daniel McGlynn argues that open social protocols and open money systems are needed as a response to concentrated control of online algorithms and money, rather than a fringe concern. He says large social networks controlled by billionaires amplify their agendas, and that search, recommendation and moderation algorithms, which he calls monopoly technologies, shape content consumption. He points to the #FreeOurFeeds campaign, which aims to make the ActivityPub and Bluesky AT Protocol interoperate, and says he will move more of his posts to Bluesky. He also notes that his newsletter is part of a beta test of Ghost's ActivityPub integration.
