How art can be good

Good taste is real, and good art is art that interests its audience, which for the broadest standard means all humans. Humans share basic responses, such as interest in faces, primary colors, three-dimensional objects and edge-finding, so preferences are not random. Because brand and artists' tricks distort reactions, a vote cannot measure this, but individuals can reduce their own biases by revisiting a famous work, standing close to it, learning common tricks, and traveling widely across cultures and eras.
