In iPadOS 18, the whole iPad is a calculator app

The Calculator app in iPadOS 18 is essentially the iPhone version scaled up, but the article's author, David Pierce, argues that the real calculator functionality lies elsewhere in the system. Calculations work in the text boxes of Apple's built-in apps; typing "225/4=" in Messages returns $56.25. Math Notes, used within the Notes app, lets users handwrite equations that are solved automatically, update when variables change, and generate graphs. Pierce notes that it is strict about legible handwriting, can't reuse its answers in other equations, and still has beta-stage quirks.
