Introducing the Content Attestation Plugin
AI summary of the linked articlePinata has launched the Content Attestation Plugin, its first IPFS Gateway plugin, which lets users sign and verify IPFS files through their gateway using any Ethereum wallet. The announcement argues that IPFS content identifiers already make files tamper-evident but do not show who published a file, and that NFTs address this but are too expensive for most situations. Users need a paid Pinata plan to install the plugin from the Plugin Marketplace, then sign CIDs through the UI or API. Signing is a message signature, not a transaction, and verification uses the pinata-signature header in the response. |

With this new plugin, anyone can verify and trust content on the internet.” This is very interesting. I can think of a dozen use cases right away. And we might not need NFT anymore which are used currently for this purpose. Still NFT can also track provenance and possible ownership. But for a lot of stuff attestation would be sufficient. Also I think this might give IPFS a boost. |
