Molly White reports that she filed a Federal Election Commission complaint with Public Citizen alleging Coinbase violated campaign finance laws with a $25 million contribution to the Fairshake super PAC in May 2024, while Coinbase was actively negotiating contracts with a federal agency. Coinbase's Chief Legal Officer Paul Grewal responded that Coinbase is not a federal contractor, a claim White says the filings already dispute. The newsletter also covers a Ripple ruling in which a judge fined the company $125 million, well below the $1 billion disgorgement the SEC had sought, and Genesis's plan to distribute around $4 billion to creditors.
