Kraken Received 25M OP Grant to Launch Ink L2 on Superchain on Bankless

Kraken received a grant of 25 million OP tokens, valued at over $42 million, from the Optimism Foundation to help launch its Ink Layer 2 on the Optimism Superchain, according to new CoinDesk reporting. The grant is tied to transaction milestones, so Kraken can unlock additional OP tranches if Ink meets monthly transaction goals. Optimism chief growth officer Ryan Wyatt confirmed the details on X, saying an additional 5 million OP will fund Ink's engineering efforts and 20 million OP is for transaction milestones meant to drive fees to the Collective.
