Make Ethereum Cypherpunk Again

Vitalik Buterin argues that Ethereum should be steered back toward the cypherpunk values it was originally built around, namely open participation, decentralization, censorship resistance, auditability, and credible neutrality, rather than becoming a clone of existing web2 services. He attributes the drift away from these ideals mainly to high transaction fees, which he says pushed the chain toward degen gambling use. He points to 2023 progress in rollups, account abstraction, light clients, and zero-knowledge proofs as a basis for an open alternative.
