More data won’t fix you, but they’ll make you know yourself better

AI summary of the linked article

A reply to Nao's Mosaic of thoughts newsletter argues that Quantified Self differs from Dataism and helps people understand how they change over time. Nao's issue, "More data won't fix you," is described as focusing on recording and the commoditization of dating, which the reply considers the wrong aspect. The reply says Dataism filters out emotion, while Quantified Self also logs qualitative insights, and the writer logs books read, calories, workouts and a diary. Each morning the writer checks AutoSleep and RISE to gauge sleep and energy, since at 30 their energy no longer matches that of 10 years ago.

I was very skeptical of Dataism but since I started using WHOOP to track my sleep and workouts, I feel much better.

Plus I sleep 42 min more per night on average because it's much easier to make it a priority when you see that you're sleeping less than 7 hrs per night for a long time.
