Points Guard
AI summary of the linked articleThe author argues that points programs are a natural next step in how crypto projects engage users, following Bitcoin mining, ICOs and yield farming, which tied ownership to participation. The essay contrasts Web 2 startups, where VC funding subsidised users and retail investors were largely barred from early stakes, with Web 3 models where users can earn ownership. It notes that ICOs rewarded money invested rather than protocol usage, and that yield farming in DeFi summer from mid-2020 paid users in governance tokens, with many farmers losing money on the way. The author says points are expected to drive adoption for Maelstrom portfolio companies that launch tokens in 2024. |
1 comment timSubmitter The crypto space is still far behind in terms of what we are doing. We could also just use points directly, as we do with Kiwi Karma to make decisions. |
