Sam and Jony

The io Products, Inc. team has officially merged with OpenAI, and Jony Ive and LoveFrom, which remain independent, have taken on deep design and creative responsibilities across OpenAI. Ive and LoveFrom began quietly collaborating with Sam Altman and the OpenAI team two years before the May 21, 2025 announcement, and Ive founded io one year earlier with Scott Cannon, Evans Hankey and Tang Tan. The io team, which gathered hardware and software engineers, technologists and researchers, will now work more closely with OpenAI's research, engineering and product teams in San Francisco.
