Seeing Beauty in Basic To-Do Lists

The author describes using a plain text editor, iA Writer, as a simple to-do list instead of a dedicated task app, which they say have grown too complex. They keep one file titled to-do.txt open in full screen on the Mac version, with a "Today" subheading for daily tasks, marking items complete in editor mode and wiping the list at the end of each day. The author says the approach is experimental and suggests alternatives including Wando, Tasks.wtf, Minimalist, Auer Tasks, TeuxDeux, Tweek and Apple Notes.
