This fiction, which its author labels as such, describes a small ad startup's neural network built to predict Reddit controversy. It generated a deliberately divisive statement about a company design choice, and the resulting five-hour argument led founder Brad to fire coworkers David and Shiri. The next day, Brad, Blake and the narrator decided to pitch the tool to the Pentagon as a superweapon. A DARPA colonel asked them to demonstrate it on Mozambique's subreddit, where they ran a statement accusing the Prime Minister of disrespecting Islam. David and Shiri then sued for unfair dismissal and racial discrimination.
