Tempo

Tempo is a payments-first blockchain, incubated by Stripe and Paradigm, that the author joined in September 2025 to help build rails designed specifically for stablecoins. The author argues that stablecoins were already 70% of transaction volume across all blockchains yet were treated as just another application, leaving their use cases fragmented and costly. Tempo is being built with a team of 15 led by Matt Huang, in partnership with the largest payment gateway and processor on the internet, and will offer high throughput, sub-second finality, low predictable fees payable in any stablecoin, and a built-in AMM for cross-stablecoin transfers.
