The 20 Most Powerless People in the Art World: 2024 Edition

Hyperallergic's annual 20 Most Powerless list recognizes people and groups in the art community who are overlooked and would benefit from greater visibility. The list includes Asheville's River Arts District, which Jeffrey Burroughs, president of the River Arts District Artists association, said lost the artworks and supplies of over 300 artists when Hurricane Helene struck in September. Other entries cover Sudanese artists amid the civil war and Florida arts organizations after Governor Ron DeSantis vetoed $32 million in arts and culture funding in June.
