The Great Migration to Bluesky Gives Me Hope for the Future of the Internet

Jason, a cofounder of 404 Media, argues that Bluesky's migration is one of the more hopeful developments in a bleak year for the internet, and that Bluesky currently offers a better alternative to X and Threads than Mastodon or Threads do. He says Bluesky, which is operated as a public benefit corporation, has gained more than a million new users over the last week, has surpassed Threads as the top app on the App Store, and now has more than 15 million users overall. He also says Threads' partial federation has made his Mastodon feeds deader, though he notes that Mike McCue and Ben Werdmuller think Threads' involvement in the fediverse will ultimately be good.
