Thumbs' Update: Culture Quest

After a two month hiatus from writing my typically monthly publication, I decided to cover a seemingly unusual topic: video game emulation. In this article I discuss my experiences with game renting, ownership, and emulation and why I believe the latter is an extremely important medium. Like I did with my post about BitTorrent I make the case for this contentious technology on ethical terms. I argue that media preservation is more important than profitability for copyrights over a certain age, and I make the extremely bold case that we should largely abandon (or rather dramatically decrease the duration of) copyright altogether for published works.
