Tyler Cowen's new book: GOAT

Tyler Cowen's free generative book GOAT argues that a specific economist, named in the book as its winner, is the greatest economist of all time. The book is inspired by Bill Simmons' The Book of Basketball and compares contenders including Milton Friedman, John Maynard Keynes, Friedrich Hayek, John Stuart Mill, Thomas Malthus and Adam Smith. Drawing on long-forgotten lectures, private letters and childhood details, it examines what drove these thinkers, asking, for example, whether Alfred Marshall's photographic memory shaped his theories of supply and demand.
