Why does Sign in With Ethereum have such bad UX?

The author asks why Sign In With Ethereum (SIWE) has much worse user experience than "Sign in with Farcaster" and calls for wallet providers to reach parity. After using Farcaster sign-in at ETHWarsaw, the author says the Ethereum flow requires separate Connect Wallet and SIWE steps, and that the SIWE request in Rainbow did not open by default and had to be found in the notifications tab. The author questions why these steps cannot be combined, automated, or shown as a readable message instead of an unformatted string, and asks whether security concerns explain the difference. The author notes being a dapp builder with limited power to change this and says Ethereum wallets will not be developers' choice for consumer dapps without parity.
