X will let people you’ve blocked see your posts (theverge.com)
Not a bad change IMO. The alternative was that a hater would potentially create a new account to see the post, so that disincentivizes them. According to some discussion I read on X: > It’s a violation of both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store ToS to have a social app without a block feature. https://x.com/adamscochran/status/1838562082200940730 Warpcast also doesn‘t have blocking and they are fine I think there was quite a bit of discourse in the women group chats about the lack of blocking on warpcast. For now we don't have the amount of creeps other platforms have (this is how we know we're nowhere near mass adoption) - but the ability to block someone is kinda useful when you've experienced your fair share of harassment before. I mean them still seeing stuff, probably as mentioned no way to stop them anyway - but I think for messaging etc there definitely should be an ability to block someone. Also for channels - some sexist dude constantly posting in a channel for FarcastHers doesn't really help the vibe, for example. Makes sense. For me it was more that people who I didn't want to engage with anymore still engaged with me after I had muted them, and I thought it was somewhat a lack of imagination that we can't have crypto native blocking. One would think that my timeline on Warpcast is so owned by me that I can completely moderate it to my liking, no? Maybe this is to make people who get too annoyed build their own client. Tear Driven development. Raise 200M but don‘t spend it to develop the ecosystem. Put it in Mercury and press people harder. They should stop whining. Life isn‘t fair Gotta love Ran i'm happy about this update because i will finally be able to read nassim taleb's tweets again :)
