AI summary of the linked article

Over 54 percent of longer English-language LinkedIn posts are likely AI-generated, according to an analysis by the AI detection startup Originality AI, shared exclusively with WIRED. Originality scanned 8,795 public LinkedIn posts over 100 words long published from January 2018 to October 2024, and found that likely AI-generated posts spiked 189 percent after ChatGPT's release in early 2023 before leveling off. LinkedIn says it does not track AI use on the site, but says it works to identify low-quality and duplicate content and does not broadly promote it. Users interviewed by WIRED said they often use general-purpose models such as Anthropic's Claude to draft or polish posts.

Anyone who scrolled through Linkedin since the release of ChatGPT is probably not surprised.

I like the conclusion though that Linkedin is the perfect lab since people don't expect others to be real on Linkedin anyway.

A good metaphor for what many online spaces have become

Haha good point.

I'd add that LinkedIn posts follow a very predictable pattern. There's even a joke about this job interview and dog kinds of posts (https://www.linkedin.com/posts/astuckey_nobody-linkedin-influencers-yesterday-activity-6800881292222193664-yKlU).

In my previous work life, I used LinkedIn a lot because we were focused on B2B. After a few months of testing, I could post semi-viral posts very often. I imagine you could easily train AI to post there.
