I don't understand why suddenly ordinals are getting so much mainstream attention whilst "no one" ever looks at on-chain art, which has existed on Ethereum for ages and is equivalent, if not more powerful, than ordinals
Maybe people are excited about Bitcoin being more than just digital gold and so ordinals is a way to open up the Bitcoin roadmap for innovation.
